Ah, the wedding cake. This can sometimes be one of the first things that guests notice as they walk into your wedding reception space. I’ll admit it… I love a tasty (and gorgeous) wedding cake. In fact, I sometimes am so busy on a wedding day that I don’t make time to eat dinner (I also usually have so much wedding planner adrenaline that I don’t even want to eat dinner, but that’s another story), but I almost always make time for a slice of cake!
Although it’s common to see one wedding cake at a reception, in some parts of the country, a second cake (or “groom’s cake”) is also the norm. You read that right… double the cake fun!
While the main wedding cake is traditionally multiple tiers and can often be a show piece at the reception, a groom’s cake is anything but traditional! The groom’s cake typically shows a bit of the groom’s personality, hobbies, or interests. Incorporating a groom’s cake is the perfect place to have fun and personalize the wedding. I’ve seen it all… from a basic chocolate cake with chocolate covered strawberries to a replica of a football stadium!
Ok, ready for some fun examples? Enjoy!
